We are pleased to share that the Appetite For Change leadership team and board have spent the past year thoughtfully building a new leadership structure to achieve a key goal: positioning a lifelong Northsider to lead AFC.

In the new year LaTasha Powell, one of our three founders, will step into our highest staff leadership position as President. Her co-founders will remain actively engaged in our work: Michelle Horovitz will focus on innovation, advocacy, and network-weaving while Princess Haley will focus on development, representation, and advancing AFC’s mission.

The co-founders agreed on a plan that maximizes their ability to focus on growing food justice in North Minneapolis and beyond. The model prioritizes Black women in key public-facing roles, providing inspiration to youth in our community and showing that AFC is committed to building equitable systems.

“Together, we’ve made sure that our organization is healthy, solid, and ready for this transition; we know that it will broaden our potential and open new opportunities to advance our mission of using food as a tool for developing health, wealth, and positive change in North Minneapolis and beyond.” – LaTasha Powell

Thank you for being our partners in change. Food access and racial justice work is intersectional and communal, and your participation and generosity throughout our first 9 years of programming has helped increase access to fresh food, strengthened connections, and made real impactful change.

On behalf of all of us at Appetite For Change,
LaTasha, Michelle, and Princess
