This year has been a real one. Minneapolis, the Northside, Appetite For Change staff—we’ve grown and moved in directions we hadn’t entirely anticipated. At AFC, we continue to ground ourselves in the mission: using food as a tool to build health, wealth and social change. For us this looks like continuing to center our work around community connection and nourishing food.
So we’ve launched a Meal Box Program! The 16-week pilot program offers access to fresh and nutritious meals for households throughout the Twin Cities. Every Monday boxes with fresh grocery items are delivered to over 300 households. The boxes are filled with products from local vendors, produce grown on the Northside, and relevant and realistic recipes inspired by Community Cooks. At no cost to you, each box includes ingredients to prepare 2 nourishing meals for a group of six, or 12 meals total, and an opportunity to cook and connect with friends and family.
Gather with your household and cook up new and familiar dishes like chimichurri chicken, cucumber blueberry salad, or Asian-style lettuce wraps with tofu and fresh herbs! Recipes include a variety of seasonal plant and animal protein-based dishes, fun food facts and cooking tips, and the occasional bonus dish!
Get the recipes and sign up at afcmn.org/mealbox. Boxes are limited.
The Meal Box Delivery Program is a collaborative effort among Appetite For Change, East Side Table, M Health Fairview, The Food Group, Local Crate, The Good Acre, and Transforming the Table! Together we can move toward building an equitable food system for all.
